I've been meaning to post this for a while, but would anyone be interested in taking over this comm? I'll probably just continue to keep it around as an archive unless someone does, but if anyone at any point runs into this post and is interested in actually doing something with the community just let me know!

The GALILEO needs you!

Welcome to the USS Galileo, a Star Trek roleplay set in the year 2389. This is an all original character cast crewing the Nova-class science vessel Galileo, on her missions throughout the galax. We are looking for writers to help take up the mantle at any one of our open posts. We have dozens of open positions available for the picking, so make sure to check us out! This roleplay is for anyone who is interested in the Trek continuity, who enjoys writing and active participation in a roleplay. This roleplay uses the very intuitive Nova software to make writing between multiple people simple and fun. If you love Star Trek, roleplaying and writing, the Galileo is for you.

These are the voyages of the starship Galileo. Her mission, to explore strange, new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations.
To study spacial rifts, wormholes, and time fluxes. To develop and test the latest cutting-edge technologies.
To observe and catalog new life forms...even though they might be slimy and look kind of disgusting....
To boldly go where no research vessel has gone before!

"Measure what is measurable, and make measurable what is not so."

Mike's Honor: Mike's Introduction

2012-02-20T16:49:55Z

Posted by: aoifes_isle

Title: Mike's Introduction
Author: aoifes_isle
Fandom: Honor Harrington - David Weber
Series: Mike's Honor (Discussion Page DW/LJ)
Rating: PG-13
Character(s): Honor Harrington, Michelle Henke, Nimitz
Relationship(s): Currently pre-relationship, will be Honor/Michelle
Spoilers: On Basilisk Station, The Honor of the Queen & The Short Victorious War
Author's Note: Through the link!
Summary: Takes place parallel to the main story ... a sort of AU, with only small changes at first ... if a section of canon fits in, I'll indicate. Some of it won't, but some will. Mike gets back to HMSS Vulcan in time for HMS Fearless's relaunch.

And another guest, one she'd invited but had known couldn't attend.

Six Honor Harrington Drabbles

Posted by: aoifes_isle

Fandom: Honor Harrington
Disclaimer: The Honor Harrington Series belongs to David Weber. I'm merely borrowing the characters briefly for my own amusement, and intend no insult or damage.
Author's Note: Six character-centric drabbles. All six should probably be considered AU, and the latest novel referenced is War of Honor.

More Honor Harrington Icons

A few months back I made my first icons, out of Honor Harrington book covers. (Nothing fancy, just cropping them to 100x100, pretty much.) In the process, I discovered that the French editions are coming out with some absolutely gorgeous cover art, that I want as wall art. (You can see the originals here, at the artist's deviantart.) And going back and checking revealed several more covers that weren't there last time I checked! So. Here are nine more HH icons.

Yuletide Fic: A Day in the Woods

Title: A Day in the Woods
Fandom: Starfire series by David Weber et al
Characters: Zhaarnak'telmasa and Raymond Prescott
Rating: Gen
Betaed by: Morbane
Word Count: 2632
AN: My beta noted the issue of both commanders being on leave at the same time. I don't see that this is any worse than both of them being on Xanadu at the same time (as we see them in the chapter); the half-hour or so to get back to the spaceport doesn't add much time to the hours it would take them to cross the system to the wormhole and into the action.
Timeline note: Missing scene from Chapter 5 of The Shiva Option, after the Bug attack

On AO3

( Ninety-First Small Fang of the Khan Zhaarnak'telmasa stalked silently thorugh the brush of Xanadu )

Honor Harrington Icons

I just made my first icons ever! Not bad, with only Paint and the utility that comes with my digital camera. I have all of the American covers except the original Field of Dishonor, I think (because I loathe that cover). Two of these were made for me by my mother a while back. And I used some of the French covers because the new artist they have doing them is awesome, seriously, they should put those babies on the American editions. All are shareable, please comment and credit.

Multiverse 5000

2010-05-03T02:03:02Z

Posted by: beatrice_otter

Come one, come all, to the 2000 Multiverse Crossover fanfest! This year, it's being hosted here at multiverse5000 . It's a prompt-style festival. Any fandoms are eligible, provided that they have space travel and/or aliens, and that the works produced focus on the spacey stuff. (IOW, stories about Honor Harrington leading the fleet into battle against the Empire: good. Stories about Honor Harrington and Jack O'Neill kicking back on a beach somewhere may also be good, but not for this fest.) All fanworks are permitted: fics, vids, icons, art, etc.

From now until May 15, you can submit prompts (this does not obligate you to participate in any other way).
Each prompt will be assigned a posting date, and will be up for grabs starting May 15.
Posting will begin June 15.

Honor Harrington is the only milSF book fandom that's been used in the past, but it's open to all.
